INTERNATIONAL TEACHING ARTIST COLLABORATIVE (ITAC) SELECTS ATSU ADALETEY FOR ITAC INNOVATOR PROJECT 2021–2022

The International Teaching Artist Collaborative (ITAC) is the first world wide network of teaching artists and artists who work in community and educational settings. ITAC brings together teaching artists, artistes, educators, organizations, funders, and researchers from all over the world to explore key issues relating to participatory arts practices.

To reach out to communities across the globe, the Leadership Committee, ITAC Catalysts and other passionate teaching artists and partners positioned in various countries collectively work to extend ITAC’s mission.

In Africa, the works of Peter Atsu Adaletey, a teaching artist from Ghana continues to hit the global spotlight; an inspiration to many. This year, he has been selected among other renowned TAs across the globe for an ITAC Innovator Project.

On Thursday, September 30 from 3:00–4:30pm (Accra time), he will make a presentation for ITAC’s September Think Tank (via zoom), which will focus on Teaching Artistry for community building and healing.

Atsu believes that Teaching Artists are Arts Emergency Surgeons for Community Healing and Empowerment. Though he will be operating from his home country, Ghana, he will be working alongside a working group (selected TAs and Artistes from Ghana and abroad).

This project needs passionate, adaptable, focus-driven and active persons for art-rich projects in communities and schools across Ghana. One should possess good communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management skills, and strong organizational skills.

Should you find your heart connected to this worthy project; joining forces with ITAC Catalyst (Peter Atsu Adaletey), you among others selected across the country will be enrolled in an intensive training programme which will equip you to push ITAC and ITAC GHANA to meet their targets as well as continuing to contribute towards global missions.

This is an opportunity for teaching artists, artistes, educators and entrepreneurs to maximize their critical thinking skills, network with other local and international TAs, artistes and educators.

Are you a dance instructor, drama instructor, music instructor, art instructor, or an artiste engaged in other art form(s) working with schools, churches or communities?

Do you want to connect with an internationally renowned arts organisation that enriches experience?

If yes, join us this Thursday, 30th September, 2021 at from 3:00–4:30pm Accra time.

Peter Atsu Adaletey is an ITAC Catalyst and one whose pure passion and consistency continue to spotlight his works on the global map. A practical evidence that has become an inspiration to many others.

In 2018, Atsu was selected as a fully funded Delegate for the 4th International Teaching Artist Conference held in NewYork, USA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtJM3_b0Xe8

Unfortunately, he couldn’t travel due to some puzzling scenes but that didn’t knock him down. His persistence won him the position as an ITAC Catalyst

He then quietly began a pilot programme in Ghana by testing ITAC’s projects through the establishment of ITAC Ghana. https://atsuadaletey.medium.com/atsu-adaletey-opens-itac-collaborative-ghana-10th-march-2019-5e3fba1ca923
